Fisher Trapping
Have you ever had thoughts of running your own trap line even if it could be just for a short amount of time? Come along with me and with my help we can help make that dream come true. Due to the very limited to nonexistent trapping pressure and having just the right environment has created a more than a very stable and sustainable fisher population in my area of northern Wisconsin. Having the opportunity to either have a truly awesome camp experience to go along with that and escape the everyday grind or to just decide to stay at one of the local establishments is totally up to you.
Typically, we offer 5 days of trapping more if possibly needed. Each person will have their (own) line and if 2 or more people come, we will just cut the cards and the individual who wins has the choice of what line they want to run and so forth. Realistically none of the lines are better than the other as they are (ALL) good but it does add a bit of spice to the experience.
Our adventure begins once trapping season opens in Wisconsin (mid-October) and will go into a good part of November and even possibly into December depending on weather.
Trap tags will be provided to you, but you must have a Wisconsin trapping license, and a (Northern Zone Fisher Tag) You must apply before August 1 (check the regulations in case this changes) for either your preference point or to apply for a tag and usually takes about 2 points (1 point per year)more or less to receive your tag.
Once a fisher is caught you will either have the option to release it or keep it. I will help you to continue to trap until you find the fisher you like or until your 5 days are done unless you want to add extra days.
Take time for yourself and do some of the things that you always wanted to do. A very awesome animal, for sure with unbelievable characteristics, and having the opportunity to catch a ghost of the Northwoods. A true adventure that you will never forget.
